The Most Economical DDA Handrail
If you are designing your DDA handrail with a blank canvass, you can make early design decisions to help you get a DDA compliant handrail designed and installed as cheaply as possible. Please remember that there are external factors, for example the strength of your fixing to the ground, that will affect compliance.
Part M of the building regulations explains the requirements for a handrail to satisfy the DDA. You can view it here. The table below shows common values that provide the most economical way to specify your handrail to be DDA compliant and meet each of the three standard horizontal load requirements. Where there is a choice, the cheapest option is highlighted.
|To Meet Part M Volume 2 – Buildings Other Than Dwellings
|Fix to strong concrete using chemical anchors and A12/G12 baseplates

|Powder Coat to a standard RAL colour. Pre - cut tubes.
|Powder Coating Service Powder coating has a 3 week lead time. Longest length we can powder coat is 3.2m
|If cutting locally, avoid ordering tubes longer than 2.4m.
|This will allow most orders to go via the pallet network and avoid the cost of a large vehicle. The best finish will be if powder coating is done after the tube has been cut.
